Margaret and Eric started the farm in 2015 to fulfill Margaret's farm dream. What began as a hobby venture has grown into a diverse pastured livestock operation where we strive to balance work and play, improve our animals and our environment, and share the experience with others.
The farm name is a combination of Margaret's 4-H dairy goat herd name (Leaf Dancer, after the way goats 'dance' on their hind legs to reach tree branches) and in recognition of the crazy storms we weathered the first few months we were on the property.
Goats have been Margaret's love for decades, and are the centerpiece of the farm. We manage a dairy herd for milk and show, and a commercial meat herd for brush grazing services and market sales. On the side we raise pastured poultry, sheep, and beef cattle.
We love visitors and love when people and animals can interact! We're planning multiple public events so visitors can come meet the herds, and are happy to open the gates to individuals or groups who just want to see the workings of a livestock farm. Throughout the year we host workshops on the basic care of livestock, homesteading, and more. Margaret is a local 4-H leader and can provide animals and experience to youth without a farm of their own.
