Goats On The Go® & Sheep On The Go, KCMO

We provide entertaining, engaging, and effective vegetation management for environmentally-conscious landowners in the KC metro.

We believe our herds are some of the happiest animals around! You won't find crews more willing to deal with thorns, poison ivy, hills, and rocks.

Why goats?

Why goats?

Goats prefer to eat many of the plant species we consider "weeds" or nuisances - for them it is excellent feed. They can access areas too steep for mowing or weedeating or where it is unwise to employ fire or herbicides.  And they enjoy it much more than humans would!

Sheep will trim some weeds and brush, but strongly prefer grass, unlike goats.  We started a small flock of hair sheep for personal lawnmowing and to assist the goats on very grassy projects.  They are an excellent fit for managing grass under and around solar panels, adding an extra layer of sustainability to renewable resource efforts.

The goats will eat "almost anything green" from about ground level to 5 or 6ft in height.  Favorites include poison ivy, bush honeysuckle, sericea lespedeza, giant ragweed, multiflora rose, buckthorn, autumn olive, wild grapes, and more.  The sheep will nibble on weeds, but really dig into grass much more than goats.

We can do projects as small as a backyard or as large as a farm!  We use portable solar-powered electric fence to keep the goats in the project area, and can work in multiple terrain settings.

Where do you operate?

Eventually, yes, as it would following mowing, spraying, or burning.  A single grazing pass will severely reduce the visual density of brush and will force plants to draw on reserves to regrow.  Clients report noticeably less brush and weed density a year after initial grazing.  Multiple passes will stress plants to the point they cannot recover, and will keep new plants from sprouting.

We currently cover the north and south Kansas City territories:

Clay, Platte, Ray, Clinton, Jackson, and Lafayette counties in MO; and Johnson county KS.  Not all cities allow goats, and we do occasionally venture outside our territory boundaries - please contact us to learn more!
